Moments in Time

Every year I set out on my search to buy an agenda/planner that I will be able to use for the current months and upcoming year. You can say that I love stationary more than the average person and am a sucker for all things shiny and full of sparkle and designed well. The agenda that I currently have and have had since August 2015 is themed around Time, the cover says “Time flies when you’re having fun!”

I love my agenda and use it everyday. The little quotes inside really speak to the importance of time and seems to be designed for a professional procrastinator that needs a swift kick in the ass to get working.

The first quote is “Lost time is never found again” – Benjamin Franklin.

How true is that? Time is too precious to waste, too beautiful to spend fighting and too valuable to throw away, yet is often taken for granted. There is a difference in making a to-do list and actually accomplishing what is on that list. When I was younger I loved poetry and recall reading this poem:

“To realize the value of one year, ask a student who has failed a final exam.

To realize the value of one month, ask a mother who has given birth to a premature baby.

To realize the value of one week, ask an editor of a weekly newspaper.

To realize the value of one hour, ask the lovers who are waiting to meet.

To realize the value of one minute; ask a person who has missed the train, bus or plane.

To realize the value of one second, ask a person who has survived an accident.

To realize the value of one millisecond, ask the person who has won a silver medal in the Olympics.

Time waits for no one. Treasure every moment you have. You will treasure it even more when you can share it with someone special.”

I was in elementary school when I first read it, so I didn’t fully understand the depth of the words. Reading it now, I see life under a different lens and strive to live my life not wasting time and appreciating the value of others’ time. Time is a very important and sensitive topic that can make all the difference in your life. Life is about living to the fullest so make time for those who are important to you and don’t waste any on those who aren’t.

I hope you conquer today with passion and do the things that you want to do, because no matter what you do, time is ticking; make it count!

Stay strong and beautiful!
